Proprietors Parth and Paraq (Tony) Patel, center, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and received a plaque from the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce to commemorate "officially" opening the doors of Canna Planet Monticello, one of the county's new legal cannabis dispensaries. "Founded by a proud local business owner" their website informs, "who has grown and lived in the Hudson Valley for 30 years, Canna Planet is more than a store - it's a reflection of Monticello's vibrant spirit."

Barbi Neumann Marty, Senior Director at The Town of Walkill Boys and Girls Club joined forces with students from the club's Monticello High School after-school program ,FACES, last week at the Sullivan County Government Center. The kids were hosting a bake and hand-made jewelry sale to help raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "The idea behind the project" Neumann said "is that there are kids just like us, but who have cancer, and that it's up to us to help them."
