Obituary: Michael J. Lassley

Michael J. Lassley of Honesdale, PA, a long-time area resident, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and friends.  The son of the late John Y. Lassley Jr. and Alice (Smith) Lassley, he was born September 20, 1957 in Callicoon, NY.  He was 64 years old. Michael was married to Nina T. (Lion-Hegge) Lassley. She survives.

Michael was a foreman for PennDOT; he was a member of the AFSCME Union. He also was a former union representative. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale, PA. He was a member of the Cherry Ridge Fishing Club, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Honesdale, PA.  He was a guest member of the Hawley Legion Hall, Hawley, PA.

Survivors include: his wife Nina; five children: Breanne Phillips and her husband Ryan of Damascus; Erik Lass-ley and his wife Kimberly of Milanville; Christopher Horstman; Christopher Hegge and his wife Aubrey of Honesdale; Benjamin Hegge and his wife Stephanie of Hummelstown, PA; seven grandchildren: Conor and Bennett Phillips, Olivia and Nora Lassley, Charlie Horstman, Addison and Allora Hegge.   Many cousins.

Michael is predeceased by brother Donald Dean Lassley (1976); his father, John Y. Lassley Jr. (2016); his aunt, Mildred Rolston and uncles James and Frank Lassley.

Graveside service will be private at the convenience of the family, burial of Michael’s cremains will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.  A celebration of Michael’s life will be at a date to be announced. Nina would ask people to call to confirm arrangements, 570/253-7820

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s name to Wayne Memorial Hospice or the Cherry Ridge Fishing Club.
