Brian R. Grood, of Pond Eddy, NY, formerly of New York City, NY, died Monday, January 31, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 80.

He was born August 27, 1941 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Charles Grood and the late Myra (Tinjanoff) Grood.

Brian was married 33 short years to Chara McGill in New York City, NY, on February 20, 1988.

Brian’s “profession” was being a serial entrepreneur, his “industry” was content creator (before there was such a thing).

A family statement read: “Brian’s life-long study and interest was Sociology.  His life-long practice was compassion for humanity (although he held all of his family and friends to a very high standard, so it might not feel like compassion at close range).  In his early 30s, he found and fell in love with the concept of Radical Amazement (ref. Abraham Joshua Heschel).  He felt and saw this everywhere, in all natural things, in all people.  He was The IG (his very own version of the OG).  He was a great man, who had no idea what an influence he was on all who were lucky enough to know him.  He exists, and is missed, to all ends of the universe.”

Surviving are: his beshert, his forever-loving wife, Chara McGill, at home; daughter Emily Winds, of Tower City, PA; two brothers, Edward Grood and his wife Harriet, of Sarasota, FL, and Martin Grood of Cocoa Beach, FL; and his beloved first cousins: Sandra, Devora, and Esther; Anna, Miriam Rose, and Leah.

There will be no visitation.

Celebration-of-life services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Contact the family for details if you wish to participate.

Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, PA.

Memorial contributions in Brian’s name may be made to Avaaz.org (https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/donate/).

Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home,100 E. Main St., Port Jervis. 845/856-5191.
