ELDRED, NY — Sullivan Public invites the community to an afternoon exploring and tasting Japan’s traditional beverage, sake. On Saturday, March 22 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Gaku and Christy Shibata, owners of the Yopparai Japanese restaurants in Manhattan, will share the history of sake, the brewing methods and the many types and grades of this rice-based beverage. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a range of sake at different temperatures, along with unique pairing snacks to stimulate the palate. Sake will be served in Japanese traditional drinkware, providing inspiration to create your own personal sake cup.

After the tasting, participants will gather in the ceramic studio to make their own sake cups using a traditional pinching method. The cups will be fired and glazed and available for pick up or shipping in a few weeks when they’re done.

This event is limited to 14 participants and costs $95 to attend. More information is available at www.sullivanpublic.com.
