HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County’s hospital took a moment to honor the role respiratory therapists play and their importance in health care during National Respiratory Care Week, October 20-26.

These dedicated professionals are on the front lines, providing essential care for patients with respiratory conditions, from asthma and COPD to life-threatening emergencies.

“At Wayne Memorial, we are incredibly fortunate to have such talented respiratory therapists who embody compassion and expertise,” a spokesperson said. “Their unwavering commitment to patient care not only enhances recovery outcomes but also brings comfort to patients and families during some of their most challenging moments.”

“Respiratory therapists are the backbone of our respiratory care services. Their commitment to patient well-being and their ability to respond swiftly in critical situations is crucial to our hospital’s mission,” said Jim Hockenbury, chief of ancillary services. “We are proud to honor their tireless efforts and the invaluable contributions they make every day. It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated professionals.”

The hard work of respiratory therapists “not only supports Wayne Memorial’s mission but also fosters a healthier community, making them true heroes in the fight for better respiratory health,” the spokesperson said.
