ELDRED, NY — Community art space Sullivan Public will hold three workshops for kids beginning in September.
Teacher Ms. Adrienne will lead Afterschool Tuesday Tween Sewing in a seven-week session beginning September 10. Each class runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and it is meant for ages eight and up.
In this session, kids will explore both hand and machine sewing techniques, compare and contrast fibers, and create fun and functional pieces including quilted pillows, fleece stuffed animals and drawstring bags. Sewing is described as a natural introduction to problem-solving, individual expression and practical life.
The class size is limited to 14 students.
The cost is $160.
Afterschool Wednesday Ceramics, led by teacher Ms. Adrienne, starts on Wednesday, September 11 and runs for seven weeks. It takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is for ages six and up.
Students will create an array of functional and fun ceramic pieces with a variety of glaze and clay options. They’ll hone their hand-building skills with both single and multi-week projects. Students will also have a chance to explore the pottery wheel. This class is for beginners and advanced students alike.
The cost is $160.
Class size is limited to 14.
Due to a generous grant from the Sullivan County Youth Bureau, Sullivan Public was able to discount the cost of the above two courses.
Those programs are funded in part by a grant from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, through the Sullivan County Youth Bureau.
On Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Ms. Adrienne will lead Afterschool Thursday Lego in a six-week program starting September 12. It is for ages five and up.
Build with LEGO in a mix of free building, weekly challenges, set building and more.
The sets are appropriate for an age range from five to 18. This session ends with the creation of a keepsake.
No class will be held on October 3 because of Rosh Hashanah.
Class size is limited to 25. The cost is $150.
