More internet choices for Delaware River corridor

REGION — As Sullivan County moves along on developing broadband access through a network of towers, Delaware River communities in Pennsylvania could have access, too.

When the work is done, the signal from three towers—one in the Callicoon area, one in Narrowsburg and one near Pond Eddy—will reach adjacent Pennsylvania communities.

The subject came up at the December 10 Sullivan County Management and Budget committee meeting. Another tower in Wurtsboro, “actually broadcasts very strong signal strength on the Orange County side of the border and a little bit into Ulster,” Lorne Green, information technology commissioner and chief information officer, said.

“Would we be able to sell to them?” asked committee chair George Conklin.

“Yes,” said Green.

Details aren’t final, so the cost to PA residents is unknown at this time.
