Monticello man arrested for 'shots fired'

Press release: Members of the Monticello Police arrested Gerrod “Binko” Lucas, age 23, of Monticello on September 12. Lucas was charged criminal possession of a weapon and related charges.

Lucas was arrested as the result of an investigation into a “shots fired” incident that occurred on the June 11 on Forestburg Road in the Village of Monticello. During the incident, Lucas possessed a silver colored Handgun, which he discharged towards several individuals and across a heavily traveled roadway, during an altercation.

Lucas then fled the scene and was observed on video surveillance passing the handgun off to another individual, Daquan Staten, age 18, of Monticello, who had been previously arrested in connection with this incident on June 25. During Staten’s arrest on he was found to be in possession of a loaded Black .45 caliber Springfield XDS handgun that had been reported stolen to Monticello Police on June 22 from an unlocked vehicle.  

Lucas was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $250,000.00 cash bail or $500,000.00 secured bond.
