Monticello man arrested for burglary at Ted Stroebel Center

Members of the Monticello Police arrested Paul A. Ellis, age 35, of Monticello on Tuesday, November 30.  Ellis was charged with the Felonies of Burglary in the 3rd degree and Criminal mischief in the 3rd degree.

Monticello man arrested for burglary at Ted Stroebel Center

MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Monticello Police arrested Paul A. Ellis, age 35, of Monticello on Tuesday, November 30.  Ellis was charged with the Felonies of Burglary in the 3rd degree and Criminal mischief in the 3rd degree. 

At 3:20 a.m., Ellis did knowingly enter the Ted Stroebel Center located at 10 Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello and did remain unlawfully inside. While inside the building, Ellis picked up a chair and then intentionally threw it through a glass pane window near the rear entrance, thereby shattering it. Employees discovered the broken window at 7:30 a.m. and notified  Monticello Police. Monticello officers reviewed video surveillance from inside the building and identified Ellis. 

Ellis was located walking on Broadway and he was arrested. In accordance with NYS bail reform guidelines, Ellis was issued an Appearance Ticket pending further action in the Village of Monticello Justice Court.

The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person who is arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
