FALLSBURG, NY -- Alex Molinda of Monticello, NY, was taken into custody on August 2 and charged with felony assault.
A Fallsburg Police officer was on foot patrol on Main Street in South Fallsburg when he broke up a fight in progress near Gombo's Bakery. The officer saw that one of the people involved had been stabbed multiple times in the back and arm with pruning shears.
The officers took Molina into custody and recovered the weapon. They then transported Molinda to the Fallsvurfh Police Department for processing.
Molinda was arraigned by Judge Kaminski in town justice court.
Molinda was charged with Assault in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, both felonies, along with Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor.
Molinda was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail and is due back in Fallsburg Justice Court at a later date.
Criminal charges are merely allegations that a defendant has committed violations of the criminal law and not evidence of guilt.
