MONTICELLO, NY — Lorenzo Wilson, 34, was sentenced to 15 years’ incarceration in State Prison upon his convictions for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, a Class A-I Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony.
These convictions stem from Wilson’s arrest on June 9, 2022, whereby members of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with members of the District Attorney’s Office, Monticello Police Department, and New York State Police executed a “no knock” search warrant in the Village of Monticello. Wilson was found in possession of three illegal handguns, including a “ghost gun.” Additionally, Wilson was found in possession of over eight ounces of narcotic drugs including cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl with the intent to sell same. Wilson was sentenced as a second felony offender on account of his prior felony conviction in 2017 for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.
Sullivan County Acting District Attorney Brian P. Conaty said: “The possession of a ‘”ghost gun”’ coupled with the possession of Fentanyl with the intent to sell it poses two of the gravest dangers to the Sullivan County community. These convictions and sentences should serve as a warning to all those who intend to endanger our community by engaging in these illegal activities.”
Conaty thanked the members of the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office for their diligence and professionalism in helping to remove these dangerous guns and drugs from the streets. Conaty also thanked the Village of Monticello Police Department and the New York State Police for their assistance in the investigation of this serious offense.
