MILFORD, PA — Richard Morais, author and editorial director of the Milford Readers & Writers Festival, will launch his latest book, “Milford Moons: A Writer’s Visual Love Letter to His Ancestral Village,” with a book signing and fundraising exhibit of related photographs. The event will take place on June 7 between noon and 2 p.m. at the Hotel Fauchère at 401 Broad St.
An award-winning Forbes and Barron’s business-journalist veteran, and the New York Times best-selling author of “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” which was made into a Hollywood film starring Helen Mirren and Om Puri, Morais is also the fourth generation of his family to live in the village. “Milford Moons” is a moody and atmospheric celebration of his nightly ramblings through town with his dogs.
Through the summer, 20 hand-picked, limited-edition photographs from the book will be exhibited in the entry hall of the hotel. A portion from the sales of these framed and signed prints will be donated to the Pike Artworks Book-Lovers Scholarship that he is establishing on behalf of the Milford Readers & Writers Festival.
The festival will be held this year on September 12-14.
Aware that the festival’s passes are not affordable for some, Morais decided that 25 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the framed prints will go toward purchasing tickets that can be donated to book lovers who would like to attend but otherwise could not.
The public is invited to the free event to meet the author.
