BEACH LAKE, PA — The Delaware Highlands Conservancy will host a community Meadow Party on Saturday, September 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Van Scott Nature Reserve, 571 Perkins Pond Rd.
The Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center will present “Amazing Animal Adaptations,” and Adam Swartz Puppets will perform “Joe Flashlight, CSI (Creature Story Investigator).”
The day will also include an easy yoga class, an introduction to fly fishing, guided trail walks and crafts, and food for purchase. Attendees can bring their own picnics if they wish.
Participants will need to bring a blanket or camp chairs.
The schedule for the day includes:
11 a.m.: Meditation and yoga with Liz Huntington. Breathing techniques and simple poses. Yoga mat or blanket needed.
11:30 a.m.: Adam Swartz Puppets, “Joe Flashlight, CSI (Creature Story Investigator).” Joe Flashlight, puppet detective, works with investigator-in-training Alice the Fox to solve animal mysteries. Learn about wild and domesticated animals while practicing your detective skills.
1 p.m.: Amazing Animal Adaptations with Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center. Meet live animal ambassadors and discuss the ways species adapt.
2:30 p.m.: Introduction to Fly Fishing with Nick Rubicco. Ever been interested in casting your line with fly fishing? Join Rubicco for a one-hour beginner lesson on casting a line and learn the ethics and etiquette of fly fishing.
Some activities will be held in the pavilion, requiring a walk uphill from the parking lot. Transportation by UTV to the pavilion will also be available.
