MAMAKATING, NY — In honor of Women’s History Month, the Mamakating Library is hosting a Women of Bossa Nova concert on Tuesday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m.
The concert will feature female artists of the Bossa Nova genre from the 1950s and 1960s, when Bossa Nova was popular in the United States and Brazil. Lucyane Bouchardet, vocal soloist, will perform 10 musical selections. Joe Mennonna—jazz, rock and folk musician—will perform piano accompaniment.
Bouchardet is a mezzo soprano and a native of Brazil, where she performed in many operas. Mennonna is a multi-instrumentalist with a musical career including liturgical, educational and studio settings. The March 25 concert will include explanations and historical background information of the music selected.
