BEACH LAKE, PA — A hitch in service at the Beach Lake post office led customers to complain on social media about having to come in person after not receiving their mail the first week of December.
Commenters on Wayne County PA-411 said they had not been delivered mail in some time and need to visit the post office to pick up their mail.
Stephanie Tasker, one Beach Lake resident who commented, said her family was told they needed to go to the post office to pick up their mail, and suggested others go in the morning before the post office took its lunch break.
Paul Smith, a Philadelphia-based media contact with the United States Postal Service, denied that customers were told to pick up their mail. He told the River Reporter that "the office was short staffed the other day," but that other post offices were able to help fill-in and that "all operations are presently normal."
"The Beach Lake PO looks forward to delivery for the holidays," Smith said.
Tasker told the River Reporter that her mail was delivered on Tuesday, December 10, but that she was not sure if the post office was back up to regular delivery.
