It was a snowy, cold evening in November when the Laurella 4-H Club was deciding who to elect into office for the 2024-25 4-H year. 4-H is a fun youth club where members do community service work and choose projects to learn about different topics like veterinary science, cake decorating, sewing, photography, farming skills and many more. At the end of the year, the members will create a final project to showcase at the Wayne County Fair, where it will be judged by age group and admired by the people who go to the fair.
At the meeting, the club members voted for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, news reporters, and pledge leaders. It was a fun exercise—like voting in an actual election in real life.
After counting the votes, the club elected Paige Gries as president, Owen Gries as vice president, Samantha Lauersen as treasurer, Bristol Smith as secretary, Kennedy Marquez and Caleb Weist as news reporters and Ethan Gries, Chase Rutledge and Cody Weist as pledge leaders. Having an officer position can show your club that you are involved and helps you to learn more about the position. This will be an exciting new year, and we are wishing our newly elected club officers good luck!
Kennedy Marquez and Caleb Weist are Laurella 4-H Club news reporters.
