HONESDALE, PA — James Pettinato, Wayne Memorial CEO, announced that Carol Kneier has expanded her role from community health manager and will now serve as community relations manager. 

Kneier will combine her administrative duties to oversee the daily functions of both the hospital’s community and public relations efforts.

Pettinato described Kneier as a “true asset to Wayne Memorial. With Carol’s years of experience involving operations of the health system and the relationships she has built within the community; I am confident she will fit the position well.”

Kneier’s career at Wayne Memorial Hospital spans more than 30 years. She was originally employed as a dietitian and certified diabetes educator, a position she remained in for 25 years, before transitioning to the role of community health manager. She implements several outreach programs and patient education initiatives, including a weekly radio show called, HealthWorks, which airs on local stations WDNH and Classic Hits radio.

Kneier earned a master’s degree in nutrition from Marywood University in Dunmore. She holds credentials as a certified diabetes care and education specialist, a registered dietitian nutritionist and a licensed dietitian nutritionist.

Kneier’s promotion followed the retirement of Wayne Memorial’s director of communications and development Lisa Champeau at the end of June. Wayne Memorial will soon announce the addition of a marketing manager to round out its communications team.
