MONTICELLO, NY —Attorney Danielle Jose-Decker, a partner in the law firm Ricciani & Jose, LLP, has announced that she will seek election for her first term as Sullivan County Court Judge and Surrogate. Jose-Decker has received the endorsement of the Executive Committee of the Sullivan County Republican Party. Multiple sources report that Judge Michael McGuire will not run for another term.

A press release from Jose-Decker says, “historically, the position has involved approximately 70 percent concentration in family court work, with the judge sitting as acting family court judge.”

Jose-Decker has two years of experience as Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney. “My practice to this point has made me uniquely well prepared to serve Sullivan County as its County Court Judge and Surrogate,” Jose-Decker said. “If elected, I will treat all people entering my courtroom with respect, and apply the law without partiality, mindful of the principles of our constitution and governing laws.”

Jose-Decker is also the president of the Sullivan County Bar Association, and was an adjunct professor at SUNY Sullivan, teaching business law.

On the Democratic side, three attorneys had indicated they intended to run for the seat, but all three have since opted not to run.
