Illuminate Honesdale’s Great Wall

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) is holding an open call for entries for the 2022 edition of The Great Wall of Honesdale.

The theme for 2022 is “Illumination.”

Artists of all backgrounds and ages are encouraged to submit their work, including high school students.

The Great Wall is entering its seventh year, and has become a landmark in Wayne County.  More than 100,000 cars pass by The Wall in a week and see the foot panels.

ILLUMINATION, noun
  1. Lighting, or light
  2. A display of lights on a building or other structure
  3. Clarification
  4. Spiritual or intellectual enlightenment
Expressing illumination in art is all about your interpretation. What is your personal experience from the past year? Has anything become more clear to you? What issues do you think need additional light?  Have you found clarity from an unlikely source?
Show us all. Create a work for the Great Wall of Honesdale.

The 2022 edition will premiere in June.  The 12 panels will be on display for an entire year. In addition, each artist is permanently featured on The Wall’s website, which includes a link to their personal website or social media.

Artists may submit up to three images to greatwallentry@gmail.com before the deadline of 12 a.m. on February 20.

Members of the WCAA may enter without paying a fee. Non-members are charged $10 for one entry, $15 for two entries, and $20 for three entries.

The entry fees will be used for the production and installation of the wall panels.

The deadline for entry is  12 a.m. EST on Sunday, February 20.  The chosen entries will be notified on Monday, March 7.

Email Maggie Fuller and Phyllis Chekenian at greatwallentry@gmail.com if you have questions.
