Homicide at USP Canaan

WAYMART, PA — On Sunday, November 28, the Office of the Wayne County Coroner was dispatched to USP Canaan regarding the death of an inmate.

Edward R. Howell, Wayne County Coroner, pronounced Dominique Spence, a 32-year-old, black male inmate, dead in the facility at 10:56 a.m. Prior to incarceration, Spence was a resident of North Carolina.

An autopsy was performed today.

The cause of death is: Sharp Force Injuries

The manner of death is:  Homicide

The decedent was involved in a physical altercation and sustained sharp force injuries inflicted by another inmate.
