HONESDALE, PA — The Highland Physicians Family Health Center welcomed family nurse practitioner Billie Burry to its staff in January. The practice is part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC). Burry provides primary care services to patients across the life span.

“Primary care is truly the foundation of the health care system, and I find fulfillment in being part of that essential role,” said Burry.

Burry has been committed to the nursing profession for 27 years, during which time she held varying roles ranging from direct patient care to supervisory to academic. She worked as an RN at hospitals in northeastern PA and New York with assignments in ED, ICU and trauma unit. She has also served as an RN supervisor at skilled nursing/rehab facilities in Luzerne County. Her academia experience over the past six years includes the position of Associate Dean of Nursing/Chief Nursing Administrator at King’s College. Prior to that she was an assistant professor of nursing at Wilkes University.

Burry has a Ph.D in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing education.

Burry said she is passionate about building long-term patient/provider relationships and offering holistic, preventative care to the community. 

“I am honored to have the opportunity to work closely with patients, helping them understand their health, guiding them through difficult decisions, and supporting them in maintaining or improving their overall well-being,” she said.
