Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing you and yours a joyful and blessed Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for reading along with me this past year—it has been a wonderful journey, and I am looking forward to continuing in the new year!

The Lake Huntington Presbyterian Ladies Aid would like to thank all who supported their Election Day bake sale at the town hall, and the recent penny social. They had a great show of support for both events. Thank you to the town community and church members and friends who make this all possible. Have a blessed Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season. God bless and thank you!

Happening at the Sullivan County clerk's office approved training facility

The new MANDATORY 16-hour handgun safety course is scheduled to be held in the  Liberty classroom, which is located in the Liberty Mall, 15 Sullivan Ave. in Liberty, NY.   The first class will be on Saturday, December 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The second class will be held on Saturday, December 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The introductory course fee is $190.00. This fee also includes equipment and ammo for the required two-hour live-fire qualifications course, which will be scheduled on completion of the second day of class. Pre-payment is required by Tuesday, December 6. Call to reserve a seat for the two days of class. For more info, call 845/292-0999.

The 10Xmas shoot-out will be hosted by the Catskill Outdoorsman on Saturday, December 17 at 5 p.m. First place wins a $300 gift certificate to the Catskill Outdoorsman, and second place wins a $150 gift certificate to the Catskill Outdoorsman. The entry fee is $35 for the early bird and $40 at the door.

This will be a Vegas-style shoot with a payout. You will have the option for a triangle 3-dot or a vertical 3-dot target. Traditional archers will use a 40-centimeter single-dot target.

Depending on the number of shooters, this will be a single elimination bracket-style shoot. Each archer will shoot 10 ends for a max score of 300. This will be at 12 shooters or under.

If there are more than 12 shooters, everyone will shoot five ends to score, and the top 12 scoring shooters will move on to the single elimination bracket shoot. This is to keep times down and limit the number of arrows archers will have to shoot.

All styles of archers are welcome to shoot. Traditional archers, such as recurve and longbow, will be given a handicap to be competitive against compound archers. They will shoot at a 40-centimeter single-dot target, with each color ring valued from 10 to six points, with the centermost ring the 10x score. Compound scoring will have each individual ring scored on a 3-dot target, from 10 to six points, with the centermost ring the 10x score.
