HONESDALE, PA— As each cross-country runner completed the muddy course, from first to last they were cheered on by shouts of “Good job, good job” from Diane Scarfalloto, the home team’s athletic director and others for their efforts on an overcast afternoon at Honesdale High, the Home of the Hornets.

On Tuesday, October 5, Honesdale hosted a multi-school cross-country (XC) meet that, in addition to Honesdale (H), also featured harriers from several neighboring districts: Delaware Valley (DV), Lackawanna Trail (LT), Lakeland (L), Wallenpaupack (W) and Western Wayne (WW).

The competition was organized into a series of four races: race #1 (men 2 miles/3.22 km), race #2 (women 2 miles/3.22 km), race #3 (men 3.1 miles/4.99 km) and race #4 (women 3.1 miles/4.99 km).

The shorter course was designed for XC runners in junior high, grades seven, eight and nine, while the longer course was set up for varsity competitors in grades nine-12. Some ninth graders moved up from junior high to varsity. All results listed are the top 10.

Race #1 individual results—Aiden Janowicz (W) 13:37.1, Owen Wolff (W) 13:54.7, Jacob Gardner (W) 13:58.0, Reece Dennis (H) 13:59.1, J.P. Yeo (W) 14:02.1, Trevan Dahigren (H) 14:13.4, Joel Flynn (H) 14:20.5, Peter Race (WW) 14:32.7, Blake Theobald (W) 14:42.6 and Jack Hernak (L) 14:43.3.
