Garden swap and bake sale

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Narrowsburg Beautification Group’s (NGB) biannual garden swap and bake sale will be held at 198 Bridge St., in front of the library, on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can exchange plants or make a monetary donation. Those who plan to contribute plants are encouraged to provide plant names and growing conditions. Labels can be picked up from the Tusten-Cochecton Branch Library or printed at home: www.worksbyhand.com/PlantLabels.pdf.

‘Get Trashed’ river cleanup

HONESDALE, PA — Here & Now Brewing Company is sponsoring a Lackawaxen River Cleanup on Sunday, June 2 from Apple Grove, north of Honesdale, to the Lock 31 House outside of Hawley. Those interested should meet at Here & Now Brewing Company at 11 a.m. at Seventh and Main streets to go over the rules, restrictions and responsibilities. Maps will be available at the brewery for those unable to meet at 11 a.m. The event will end at 5 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own gloves and safety gear, and to wear bathing suits and waterproof shoes with good traction. Here & Now Brewing Company and its partners will have Seventh Street closed for the day to accommodate the dumpster and to provide space for community groups focused on sustainability, recreation and economic development.


Plant-starts sale

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Root N’ Roost Farm, at 64 Mineral Springs Rd., will be open Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for its plant-starts sale.

There will be a variety of spring and summer plant vegetable starts and annual and perennial flowers and herbs. The farmstand will offer jams, skin salves, beeswax and recycled candles.


Fun Fair at Kadampa World Peace Temple

GLEN SPEY, NY — The Kadampa World Peace Temple will be open to the public for its 11th annual Fun Fair on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

The fair will feature live music, artist vendors, fresh vegetarian food and a variety of activities for people of all ages and backgrounds. A kids’ carnival will feature a bounce tent, fair games, kids’ hike, storytelling, face painting and various craft tables.

Visitors are invited to explore the 82 acres of forest, including three onsite nature trails. There will be a guided meditation and temple tour offered throughout the fair inside the World Peace Temple.

World No Tobacco Day

SULLIVAN COUNTY — In celebration of World No Tobacco Day, Friday, May 31, Tobacco Free Action Communities wants to thank the 15 Sullivan County municipalities that have adopted a tobacco-free parks and playground policy.

Public support for outdoor tobacco-use restrictions is growing.  Currently outdoor tobacco-use policies have been enacted in over 550 local municipalities throughout New York State.  Community surveys indicate that 80% of Sullivan County residents support policies that restrict tobacco use at local parks, playgrounds and beaches.


Largest car show in Sullivan County

ROCK HILL, NY — Celebrating its 56th year, the Catskill Region Antique Automobile Club of America is hosting its annual car show, inviting antique, classic and custom car owners from all over the region to gather at the Sullivan Event Center located at 283 Rock Hill Drive. Gates will open at 9 a.m.

Minimize your waste

CALLICOON, NY — A seminar presented by Delaware Young at Heart will answer questions about where garbage ends up, how to get rid of electronics, recycling, composting, biodegradation science and the proper removal of pesticides and oil-based paints and solvents.

The program will be led by Sullivan County’s recycling coordinator Bill Cutler on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Delaware Youth Center.
