Hard to believe we are heading into May! Memorial Day weekend will be here before you know it and the unofficial start to summer will begin.

Here are a few local events that will be taking place in our community and nearby towns.

There is a burn ban in effect, and it runs through Tuesday, May 16.

Save the date: Lake Huntington Lake Association will hold its first annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 6692 Rte. 52, Lake Huntington, NY. Family fun, arts, crafts, cookies, fire trucks and ambulances, face painting, music, performances and more! For more information, email lhnylakeassociation@gmail.com or call 845/932-8189.

Attention Sullivan West High School seniors! Apply now for the David F. Curreri Memorial Scholarship. You could be the lucky winner of a $3,000 scholarship. Stop at your guidance office for the application. It’s due by Friday, May 5.

Spring sports are happening. Come out and support your Bulldogs! in full swing! Be sure to check the school website for games and meets that are happening. Support your Bulldogs! Learn more at www.swcsd.org.

The Sullivan West Central School District budget vote is on Tuesday, May 16 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. The voting locations are the Delaware Youth Center, the Tusten Public Library and the Jeffersonville Public Library (a new polling location). Any questions, email budget@swcsd.org.

Camp sessions run for a full or half day, depending on your child’s age.
