LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — On February 19, the men’s basketball team at SUNY Sullivan defeated the visiting Wolverines of Essex Community College, thus closing out their regular season of hoops with a 106-68 victory.
The outcome of the game wasn’t really in contention, as the Generals had posted a 57-33 lead at halftime.
The Generals (22-3) are coached by Brent Wilson and assisted by Simon Clement and Chris Martinelli, while the Wolverines (8-17) are led by Bobby Morgan, and assisted by Andrew Kemp and Jahreal Cadogan.
SUNY Sullivan’s top scorers were Kareem Welch (26 points); Samuel Desouza (23); Jay Alvarez (20 points including two three-pointers); Jalen Reneau (16 points including four three-pointers); and Jarell White (13).
The top scorers for Essex were Pascal Dodard (17 points, including two three-pointers); Jonathan Delgado (14, including four three-pointers); Keon Evans (12); and Orion Mickens (10).
Victory didn’t stop there. The Generals, both men’s and women’s teams, took the Region XV championships at the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) basketball tournament last weekend. Both teams advance to the East District championship tournament this weekend at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn.
