PIKE COUNTY, PA — The Pike County Conservation District (District) is currently accepting applications for projects through the Agriculture Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP). The district has a signed agreement with the state conservation commissionc to administer ACAP locally to provide financial and technical assistance for the implementation of best management practices (BMPs). Farmers and other agricultural operators in Pike County planning to implement BMPs are encouraged to apply.
These funds will be used to implement projects that reduce non-point source pollution in streams, rivers and waterbodies in Pike County. The project must implement one or more BMPs identified in an agricultural operation’s conservation plan, manure management plan, agricultural erosion and sediment control plan, or nutrient management plan, which is necessary to reduce nutrient and sediment pollution from the agricultural operation and meets the criteria established by the SCC.
This is a grant reimbursement program, and any person or legal entity that has legal or financial responsibility for either an agricultural operation in which they are engaged or property on which an agricultural operation takes place can apply. All applicants must first meet with district staff to discuss the project prior to submission. Contact the district office to speak with program manager Ellen Enslin regarding your project at 570/226-8220 or eenslin@pikepa.org, or visit the district website at www.pikeconservation.org for more information.
The ACAP program was created through the Clean Streams Fund established by Pennsylvania State Budget in 2022.
