From conspiracy theory to the Ouija Board

Posted

We heard him say Obama was not a citizen; we heard him say that Sen. Ted Cruz’s father helped kill JFK; and we know he still believes the greatest conspiracy of all—that he won the 2020 election.

On April 4, at the behest of Laura Loomer, Trump fired NSA Director General Tim Haugh, the head of Cyber Command and a 30-year veteran of the military. Loomer is a far-right activist and a “proud Islamophobe and a pro-white nationalist.” She claims the 9/11 attacks were an “inside job,” and that the deep state manipulates the weather to influence elections.

She proudly proclaimed that she had recommended the NSA firings because the people involved were not sufficiently loyal to Trump.  Marjorie Taylor Greene has called Loomer “mentally unstable and a documented liar.” Seemingly harsh words from another MAGA sycophant.

Explaining why an aged Trump would act upon the advice of a 31-year-old, publicity-seeking white supremacist to dismantle the U.S. arsenal against cyberattacks is not easy. Tim Haugh’s leadership in dealing with present and future attacks on our infrastructure, hospitals and government has been vital. Even as the NSA was in the midst of trying to figure out how China’s intelligence agencies had “pierced deeply into the American telecommunications system,” Haugh’s firing remains inexplicable.

With this action, Trump has demonstrated a reckless incompetence and lack of concern for our country and its citizens. What’s next, governance by Ouija?

Thus far, his actions have produced economic chaos and caused direct hardship for many excellent government employees as well as the millions who depend on the services the government provides.

Contact your senators and congressmembers and urge them to fight against this administration’s unadvisable, immoral, unethical and even illegal behaviors. Act and remember everyone’s responses, on Election Day and every day.
