Frederick R. Kuehling

Frederick R. Kuehling of Beach Lake, PA, and a longtime resident of the area, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 86.   

The son of the late George Washington and Margaret (Herbold) Kuehling, he was born August 18, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. 

Fred was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a graduate of DeVry. Fred was the head electrician at Reynolds Aluminum Co. for 25 years before retiring.  He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale, PA. 

He was the widower of Brigitte (Meier) Kuehling; she passed away on August 25, 2013. They were married for 56 years. 

A family statement reads: “Fred was a wonderful husband, father, Opa and friend. He adored his grandsons and cherished his beloved dog, Lilah. Fred, along with being a licensed electrician, was also a jack-of-all-trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or fix. He loved sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets fan. He loved the outdoors and the ocean. He will truly be missed by all.” 

Survivors include his son, Frederick R. Kuehling Jr. of Shohola, PA; his daughter, Malinde Lohmann and her husband, BJ, of Narrowsburg, NY; his grandsons: Brandon Michael Lohmann and Matthew Cole Lohmann, both of Narrowsburg, NY; his sister: Georgette Johnson of South Carolina; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Fred is predeceased by his wife, Brigitte, and his siblings: Walter Kuehling, William Kuehling, Dorothy Maxwell, George Kuehling and Herman Kuehling. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Indian Orchard Cemetery in Honesdale, PA. A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date.
