FORESTBURGH, NY — Sullivan County has always known that the Forestburgh Playhouse is fabulous. Now the playhouse has several awards from BroadwayWorld to make it even more clear.

In a time when COVID-19 guidelines have closed theatres and some venues have given up, the Playhouse kept going.

The BroadwayWorld Regional Awards for central New York honored the Playhouse with recognition for:

Best Performer in a Musical (Professional)—Tia Karaplis in “Babes in Arms”

Best Performer in a Play (Professional)—Nick Cearley in “Buyer & Cellar”

Best Performer in a Streaming Musical (Professional)—Belinda Allyn in “Diamond Delirium”

Best Costume Design in a Play or Musical—Ashleigh Poteat in “Altar Boyz” Best Direction of a Play (Professional)—Matt Lenz in “Buyer & Cellar”

Best Editing of a Stream (Professional)—PrimmeTime Video in “Diamond Delirium”

Best Lighting Design of a Play or Musical (Professional)—Ethan Newman in “Altar Boyz”

Best Sound Design Of A Play Or Musical (Professional)—Rachel Kolb in “Altar Boyz”

Best Streaming Concert/Cabaret (Professional)—”Diamond Delirium”

The 2021 awards honored productions that had their first performance between October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.

The BroadwayWorld Regional Awards are the largest theatre audience awards, according to their website, with over 100 cities worldwide participating.
