PIKE and WAYNE COUNTIES, PA — The Chamber of the Northern Poconos is calling for applications for the Leadership Northern Poconos Class of 2026.

Leadership Northern Poconos is designed to shape the future leaders of Wayne and Pike counties, the chamber said.

Formerly known as Leadership Wayne, the program has been cultivating civic-minded leaders since 2002. Over the course of 10 months, participants will explore critical aspects of the region, gain leadership skills and work together on a needed community project.

Leadership Northern Poconos is an insider’s look at the Northern Poconos, and it offers monthly sessions on topics such as:

  •   Arts, culture and agriculture
  •   Community and human services
  •   Economic development
  •   Education
  •   Law enforcement and criminal justice
  •   Environment, recreation and tourism
  •   Leadership and team building
  •   Health care
  •   Overviews, Wayne and Pike counties

The 2026 program kicks off Tuesday, September 9. Classes are held on the second Tuesday of each month at various locations across the region. Participants must attend at least eight of the 10 sessions and will collaborate on the class project.

“This is an excellent opportunity for individuals and employers to deepen their understanding of the Northern Poconos and develop strong leadership skills,” said Debbie Gillette, executive director of the Chamber of the Northern Poconos. “Participants come away with a renewed appreciation for the region—and the tools to help it thrive.”

Warren Schloesser, Esq., co-founder of the program, added: “Leadership Northern Poconos offers invaluable personal and professional growth. Whether you’re sponsored by your employer or investing in yourself, it’s an experience that pays dividends.”

The program is open to anyone who lives or works in Wayne or Pike counties. Tuition costs $600, which covers all program materials, lunches and graduation. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply early. The application deadline is August 4.
