PORT JERVIS, NY — Saturday’s Port Jervis Fan Fest at the Port Jervis Free Library was the first of its kind. If the amount of people who showed up is any indication, it’s the start of a new tradition.
Event co-organizer Danielle Delorenzo said there was a line of people waiting to enter. Over the course of the five-hour event, Delorenzo said the number of attendees totalled 915.
She and Doug Garnham (co-owner of comics and gaming store Haven for Heroes, also in Port Jervis) planned this “Library-Con” over the last eight months, which went off without a hitch, from the library staff and volunteers to comic book creators, hudson valley Ghostbusters, “The Marvelists” podcasters, cosplayers, Pokemon, anime, story time sessions, face painting, crafts, costume contest, pop culture trivia and retro video games, one would be hard pressed to not find an engaging activity.
Next year’s event is already being discussed. For additional information, contact Danielle at the library: 845/856-7313.
