CALLICOON, NY — The first International Callicoon Gay Film Series will take place at the Callicoon Movie Theater starting on Thursday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. with “Maurice” (1987, England). An early Merchant & Ivory production, it is based on the E.M. Forster book of the same title. It is the film that made Hugh Grant a star.
Local filmmaker Todd Stephens (“Edge of Seventeen,” “Swan Song,” etc.) will introduce the film.
Other films in the series, held on subsequent Thursdays, will be “Happy Together” (January 30), “Loose Cannons” (February 6) and “God’s Own Country” (February 13).
Tickets for individual shows cost $15, or you can buy tickets for the entire series for $40. Venmo byibzhin@gmail.com.
All proceeds after the theater rental will go to a local nonprofit.
