Fire at 428 Fraiser Road

At 13:40 (1:40 PM) Monticello Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire with reported entrapment at 428 Fraser Road in the Kiamesha Lake section of the Town of Thompson. 

Enroute Monticello Engine 22-14 requested a 2nd Alarm for a working structure fire in an occupied 3 story multiple residence building at the corner of Route 42 and Fraser Road. Firefighting efforts were hampered by a broken fire hydrant near the scene. Initial attack by firefighters reported heavy fire in a 2nd floor apartment extending upward to the third floor. Firefighters searching the building rescued an occupant from the third floor and extricated the victim through a third floor window into the bucket of Monticello Tower 22-41. The victim was treated by Mobilemedic and transported to Garnet Medical Center Catskills with smoke inhalation and flown by medivac to Westchester Medical Center. No other injuries were reported. 

Engines, Rescues and manpower were requested from Rock Hill, Wurtsboro, White Sulphur Springs, Liberty Truck 17-41 and Silver Lake Truck 160, as well as Town of Bethel FAST Team. Hurleyville was on standby in Monticello’s Station, Livingston Manor in Liberty’s Station and Woodridge for all calls in Rock Hill. Monticello was assisted at scene by Sullivan County Bureau of Fire, Sullivan County EMS, Mobilemedic EMS, Catskill Hatzolah, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, New York State DOT, Town of Thompson Code Enforcement, Sullivan County Fire Investigators and NYSEG for a power cut. Sullivan County Red Cross was on scene to assist displaced residents. In total 14 residents were displaced.

All units were back in service by 19:11 (7:11 PM)
