LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — In the main event of the dual wrestling meet at Sullivan West High School on February 5, the combined team of grapplers from Eldred, Liberty and Sullivan West (ELS) defeated the Panthers of Monticello High School (MHS). The victory came after the opening match between Monticello and the Eagles of John S. Burke Catholic which the Monti-matmen won, and a series of exhibition bouts featuring wrestlers from all three squads.

A highlight of the evening was Sullivan West’s only senior wrestler Henry Peters joining his folks for a brief senior recognition ceremony before the varsity match.

The results of the match between Burke and Monticello were not available, and the results of the exhibition bouts were not recorded in a scorebook, although the winners got to take center stage.
