A very sad week

Hello, hope you are all doing well.

It’s that time of the year when you see all the elections signs out.

In the Town of Cochecton, these are the people running:

 Gary Maas(R) is running for re-election as supervisor, for a two-year term.

Maryann Oumrim (R) is running for town clerk. She was the sole 2020 candidate to run for the unexpired term in 2021 (Hollye’s final year). Now she is running for a four-year term.

The Hon. Steven Sauer (D) and the Hon. Craig Fine (D) are running for re-election for two town justice positions. They serve a four-year term.

Dr. Paul Salzberg (D), Kambri Crews (D), Sean Nearing (R) and John Nober (R) are running for two open seats for town councilpersons. Dr. Paul Salzburg and Sean Nearing are up for re-election. It’s a four-year term.

Kevin Esselman (R) is running for town highway superintendent. This is a two-year term.

Eileen Hennessy (D) is running for town tax collector. This is a two-year term.

Just a reminder, I am not the school tax collector, Doreen Hansen is, and you can get in touch with her at 845/482-4610 X 4115 and she will get back to you.

On Saturday, October 16, the Lake Huntington Ladies Aid will be holding their penny social. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., calling starts at 12:30 p.m., and it costs a donation of $1.

MASKS are required, and refreshments are served after the calling. There’s no food for sale this year. Come out and support one of your local churches.

On Tuesday, November 2, the Republican Club of Cochecton is having their Election Day chicken BBQ from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lake Huntington Fire House. It is drive-through only. The price of the ticket is $13. Call Ed Grund for ticket information, 845/252-7363.

On November 9, the Lake Huntington Fire Company Blood Drive takes place at the Fire House, 70 County Rd. 116 in Lake Huntington. It lasts from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s time to rise up and be a hero, because the need has never been greater. Your donation has the power to save up to three lives.
