Eldred offers childcare to employees and residents

ELDRED, NY — “We take care of kids,” said superintendent of school Dr. John Morgano as he explained the new child care program at the school this fall.

On a one-year trial, Eldred Central School District (ECS) will offer child care to faculty, staff and to the community as openings permit. There is room for 18 students aged 4 through 12. The child care program will be offered by Healthy Kids, a national organization.

Funding for this program comes from a CARES grant that the school received. The CARES grant helps organizations and schools to alleviate costs related to COVID-19. Out of the $170,000 the district received, the program will use approximately $30,000.

This child care provision will permit ECS teachers and faculty to be at work without worrying about their child attending virtual school every other week. Held in the Mackenzie Elementary School gym, it is anticipated that there will be spots open to the community. Parents who need this service are encouraged to register their child. A registration link is available at www.healthykidsprograms.com/pop-up-eldred-sacc.

Any questions about the program should be directed to Morgano at 845/456-1100.
