LIBERTY, NY — Sullivan County residents are invited to join the county’s Soil & Water Conservation District and Cornell Cooperative Extension on Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the first Pumpkin Smash and 4-H Open House event.
You can just drop off your pumpkin beginning at 9 a.m. if you only want it composted.
Designed to keep pumpkins out of landfills and compost them instead, the event will also feature games, crafts, face painting, light refreshments and a 4-H open house.
BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin), and they will supply everything else.
Do not bring tools; implements will be provided. All candles and decorations should be removed.
The rain date will be Saturday November 9. The organizations will accept drop-off-only compostable pumpkins through the end of November. To learn more or set up a time, call 845/292-6552.
