Heritage vs. heirloom gardening
GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Horticulturist Diana K. Weiner will discuss the difference between heritage and heirloom gardening on Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum. The talk will provide useful gardening information that will help increase harvesting yields. This event includes light refreshments and museum admission, and is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.
DEP seeks candidates for watershed internships
NEW YORK STATE — The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking college students in science and engineering fields to fill various paid summer internships throughout its offices in Sullivan, Ulster, Delaware, Greene and Westchester counties. The available positions are associated with water quality laboratories, water supply operations, drinking water treatment, environmental health and safety, stream management, wastewater and storm-water projects, water system modeling and research, and geology.
Interns will work alongside DEP scientists, engineers, planners and other professionals to operate and maintain the largest municipal water supply in the U.S.
