BOROUGH OF HONESDALE PRESS RELEASE

COVID-19 exposure at community pool

Posted

HONESDALE, PA — The Borough of Honesdale reported on August 18 that there was a report of positive cases of COVID-19 on August 17,  at the Honesdale Borough Pool. The exposure occurred during a leased period of use.  The facility has been closed effective immediately for disinfection following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and PA Department of Public Health guidelines.

The health and safety of the public and our employees is our top priority. If you believe you were exposed, you should stay home and  self-monitor for symptoms, and follow all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Information is available from the CDC online including the criteria to discontinue home isolation.

With the inclement weather, staffing shortage, and the disinfection of the facility, it is unclear if the borough will be able to reopen the pool for the remainder of the season. Follow Honesdale Borough Parks and Recreation on social media for an announcement on the potential reopening of the pool.   If the season can continue, we are still in need of lifeguards and staff to fill positions.
