ONLINE — Sen. Jen Metzger has launched Community Conversations, a twice-weekly Facebook livestream series featuring experts knowledgeable on selected topics important to our communities. The half-hour-long digital episodes will be livestreamed on Metzger’s Facebook page on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and will include a Q&A with participating viewers. Those without Facebook accounts will still be able to view the livestream.
On Tuesday, May 5, Kellyanne Costyal-Larrier of Fearless will speak about domestic violence during the pandemic. On Thursday, May 7, a high school and elementary special-education teacher from Sullivan County will speak about education resources for students, teachers and families.

REGION — The Western Sullivan Public Library (WSPL) has begun a photo challenge to recreate your favorite book cover with household objects. Winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to their local grocery stores.
Entries are due by Monday, May 18 and five winners will be announced on Friday, May 22.
Choose a book from WSPL’s collection. (To view the collection, visit the catalog on at www.wsplonline.org and browse the e-book/digital library collection.) Recreate the cover using up to four household items. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name, contact information and a list of the household items you used in your recreation. Limited one entry per patron.

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Although campus buildings are currently closed to the public, SUNY Sullivan is still open for business. Students and residents of Sullivan County who do not have internet access at home can bring their laptops, cell phones and tablets to the SUNY Sullivan campus for free access via a WiFi hot spot in Parking Lot 2. The campus buildings and grounds department has set up a boosted signal that covers the entire area, enabling internet access from the socially-distanced safety of individual cars.
The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan County provided funding for this effort from the Orange and Sullivan COVID-19 Response Fund.
ONLINE — The Sunshine Hall Free Library is offering the Kanopy film streaming service for free to its library card holders. The service contains more than 30,000 films including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard to find films, classic movies, the Learning Company Video Courses and a collection of films just for kids.
LUMBERLAND, NY — The Town of Lumberland has established a temporary dry goods pantry for Lumberland residents who are in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, through a grant received from the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.
Residents can call the municipal offices at 845/856-8600 ext. 6 to speak with someone to set up an order and pick-up time. Pick-up days will be Tuesdays and Fridays.
ONLINE — The Downtown Barn of Liberty, NY will sponsor a livestream with “Liberty’s own favorite and fabulous duo” Justin and Mark on Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m.
