HAWLEY, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) has announced a new call for submissions for its banner art project in Hawley, now in its second year. The deadline for entries is January 30, 2025. 

The WCAA collaborated with the Downtown Hawley Partnership and the Foundation for Harmony Presents, and plans to install an additional series of banners. Each of these banners will be a print of an original artwork by area artists. 

We are asking artists to submit digital images of their artwork for consideration. The theme is “Paint the Town Hawley.” A variety of artistic styles and subject matter are sought.

Artists selected and with a printed banner on display in 2024 are not eligible to submit for a consecutive year. All other artists are encouraged to submit their entries.

Submit up to three images per artist for consideration. Low-resolution images are requested for judging (72 dpi and 650 pixels on longest side). Those selected to participate will be required to submit a high-resolution image for printing (300 dpi and 5000 pixels on the longest side). All images should be jpegs; indicate title, medium and year created for each submission. 

Submissions must include full contact information including name, phone number and email. If guidelines are not followed the artwork will not be considered.

The banners are scheduled to be installed in April 2025.

Ownership of the original artwork remains with the artist. To view the 22 banners on display, drive through Hawley soon, before they are replaced with seasonal banners for winter.
