ONLINE — An upcoming Penn State Extension webinar, “Seed Collection: Out-planting and Native Plant Resources,” will focus on how to establish native plants grown from wild-collected seed.

Occurring from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 15, the program is intended for extension professionals, gardeners, landowners and managers, and anyone interested in learning about best practices for out-planting and establishing native and other seed from herbaceous and woody plants in various small and large-scale contexts.

During the webinar, participants can learn:

— How to determine the needed seed combination, timing, personnel and equipment to fulfill project goals and objectives.

— How to specify and provide required site preparation, installation, establishment and aftercare.

— How to specify the required seed type, qualities and quantities for a project.

— How to document the entire process for replication and improvement.

Penn State Extension offers this event at no charge. Registration by 11:45 a.m. Oct. 14 is required to receive the link to access the webinar. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
