COCHECTON, NY — Heinle’s General Store in Cochecton, which has been under the same ownership for the last five years, closed its doors this month.
The store will be re-opening under new ownership, with a new menu in the spring.
Heinle’s has offered a full-time gas pump, as well as a deli and catering, seven days a week, since 2013. “Heinle’s is a staple in the community of Cochecton. There are so many fond memories connected with the store itself, as well as the family behind it,” the business’ website reads. In May, 2015, Hennings Local—a restaurant and bar that sources from local, sustainable farms—opened above the store.
“We just wanted to say thank you to everyone, local and far, who have supported us,” said Mike Papile and his crew in an email about the closing. He added that the family will be staying local.
“ Even though we won’t be seeing everyone everyday anymore, we’ll catch you around town, or at the store on the other side of the counter,” Papile said.
