‘The Climate Event’

SHOHOLA, PA — On Saturday, January 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Artists’ Market Community Center, Brandi Merolla is presenting at “The Climate Event,” sponsored by the Barryville Area Arts Association. Merolla is a pop folk artist whose work has been displayed all around the world. She is well known for her staged photographs posing vintage toys and figurines to tell stories.

Besides Merolla’s presentation, this free community event also includes exhibits of both classic and contemporary art—all with a climate theme—and complimentary refreshments. The classic art exhibit features prints of a dozen winter weather creations by artists such as Claude Monet and Edvard Munch.

‘Creative Differences’ monthly discussion

The first gathering of “Creative Differences” will be held on Sunday, January 5 at 2 p.m. at the Artists’ Market Community Center, located at 114 Richardson Ave. The public is invited for free coffee and pastries, and a chance to express their opinions. The topics of discussion are listed in advance at www.artistsmarketcc.com/creativedifferences.html.

The first topic is, “Should the goal of an artist be an imitation of nature, or something as genuine as nature itself?”

Meetings will take place on the first Sunday of every month throughout 2020. For more information and to check upcoming topics, visit www.artistsmarketcc.com/creativedifferences.html.
