LIBERTY, NY -- A sedan hit a school bus head on in the Town of Thompon.
On Monday, February 5, at approximately 3:05 p.m.,, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision between a car and a small school bus in the vicinity of 907 Old Liberty Road, Deputies found that a 2023 Kia Forte driven by Shyla Carlson, 43, of Hurleyville was travelling southbound when it swerved into the path of the school bus, hitting it head on.
The bus, which belonged to Bus Student Company of Spring Valley, NY, was transporting six students of various ages to the Center for Discovery. No injuries were reported on the bus.
Carlson was transported to Garnet Catskills for treatment of a hand injury. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Hurleyville Fire Dept, Mobile Medic, Rock Hill Ambulance, Hatzolah Ambulance, Bethel Ambulance, SC EMS – 1, SC EMS-2 and the state police.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
