What a very busy last few days. On Friday night, Pastor Phyllis from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg, NY, her twin sister, Nancy, and I went to see “Altar Boyz” at The Forestburgh Play House. It was very funny; it was nice to be able to laugh. On Sunday, I worked Narrowsburg’s Riverfest for the River Reporter. It was fun seeing so many people and chatting with them.

John Nober gave me the names of the Lake Association raffle tickets winners. Dave Strochek won the first-place prize, a kayak and paddle; E. Ernish won the second-place prize, a Dick’s Sporting Goods gift certificate worth $150; JJ Matuszewki won the third-place prize, a Cabela’s gift certificate worth $100; and Dawn Curreri of Eagle Valley Realty won the fourth-place prize, a “basket of cheer.” Thank you to all the people who brought tickets to help keep the lake safe. When I get a copy of the minutes, I will share them with everyone.

The Western Sullivan Public Library’s book sale at the Jeffersonville Firehouse is back, Thursday, August 12 through Sunday, August 15. The sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Western Sullivan Public Library. Call 845/482-4350 to volunteer.

The Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps has something to say: “Thank you to our outstanding community for your generous support during our coin drop fund drive in Fosterdale, NY. Unlike many municipalities and fire-department-based EMS services, we receive no tax monies and are highly dependent on generous donations and fundraisers to offset the rising costs of equipment and training courses. Did you know that since the beginning of 2020, the cost of a single box of gloves has tripled to nearly $30 per box? If you missed us and would still like to donate, our address is P.O. Box 4 Lake Huntington, NY 12752. We will also be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, August 28 at the Cochecton Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, you can email www.cochectonambulanceems@gmail.com and sign up for the blood drive at www.redcrossblood.org.”

There is lots of fun stuff happening with the Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC). Please follow its Facebook page, New Cochecton Youth Commission. If you are new to the Town of Cochecton, please send them a message and register your children. All CYC events are free to Cochecton children.

If you have an event or any town information, email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call me at 845/252-3568. Keep smiling and have a great week.

River Reporter, Eileen Hennessy, Lake Huntington
