HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced that Jehovah Maldonado, age 26, of Long Pond PA, was sentenced by President Judge Janine Edwards on Thursday, December 2 to a total of eight years to 20 years in a state correctional institution. On November 9, a jury seated in Wayne County, and presided over by president judge Janine Edwards, convicted Maldonado of Felon not to Possess Firearms, Burglary, Criminal Trespass, and Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, all Felonies.
On September 6, 2020, the homeowners, in Paupack Township, found that someone had broken into their house by forcing open a rear basement door. The homeowners related that they had video surveillance of the outside and inside of the residence. A male and a female actor were seen in the video surveillance inside taking things. Maldonado was seen in the video carrying a firearm.
The homeowner determined that three handguns, $10,000 worth of jewelry, and cash were taken during the burglary.
Maldonado was convicted in 2014 in Monroe County of several felonies related to an armed home invasion where shots were fired.
District attorney Howell stated “A Wayne County jury struck a significant blow in support of public safety and law enforcement in Wayne County. This defendant is a menace to society and the state penitentiary is exactly where he needs to be.”
