Hello, I hope you all are doing well. There are only a few more weeks until spring.

I remember, as a kid, it snowing on Easter. I was on Facebook and saw that Kristina Snedeker put up pictures of back in the day when they harvested ice on Lake Huntington. This is how she describes one of the pictures of harvesting ice on Lake Huntington: “You can notice the transition from horses to automobiles. Photo circa [1910/1920]. (Looks like a model T truck being used).” If you have Facebook you should give it a look; search for the Lake Huntington, NY page. I love when people join in and tell their stories of what they remember.

Saturday night, I got a FaceTime from Mike and Jamie for Angelinas, the pizzeria where Lakeview Pizzeria is now. They were just checking in. I can not believe little Angelia is 13 and Isabella is 5. Angelina looks so different; she is taller than her mom. They all say hello to their friends and old customers.

The Cochecton Youth Commission is really trying to keep the kids busy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Follow them on Facebook for upcoming events.

It’s 2021 tax season. If your taxes are not paid by Sunday, February 28, I send out a reminder letter on either pink or red paper. The color catches your eye better than white. In March, you pay two percent and a $2 fee. If you are not able to pay by Wednesday, March 31, when my books are closed out, you will have to wait till the county starts its collection. You can always send me an email at taxcollector@townofcochecton.ny.org and I will get back to you with an appointment. If the weather is bad, call 845-932-8360 ext. 17 first. If you would like to pay online there is a three percent fee that goes to the credit card company. Visit www.webtownhall.com/onlinepaymentportalcochectonny/Home.aspx.

Save the date for these two different corned beef and cabbage dinners: Saturday, March 13 starting at 4:30 p.m. at Lakeview Pizza & Bar in Lake Huntington, NY; and Sunday, March 21 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Church on Rte. 97, Callicoon, NY.

Happy happy birthday to one of Cochecton’s best, judge Bob Meyer. I really enjoy our little chats when I am on my way to the tax office and I see him out walking on the road.

Wash your hands and please wear a mask. Have a great week. You can email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. You can always check me out at www.riverreporter.com/community.
