NARROWSBURG, NY — Tusten Social is launching the next session of its Teen Club, a free afterschool program designed to provide local teens with structured, creative activities. It takes place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning April 2, and is held at The Commons.
The new session focuses on art and design, with workshops in mixed media, portfolio development and exhibition preparation under the guidance of professional artist Catherine Chesters.
A bus is provided for Sullivan West students.
“Our mission at Tusten Social is to create meaningful opportunities for all generations within our community,” said Greta Knutzen, co-founder of Tusten Social. “Teens in particular benefit from structured afterschool programs that encourage creativity and connection.”
The Art & Design session will allow participants to experiment with various artistic techniques and materials while building a strong collection of work for college applications. They will learn about professional studio environments and can showcase their work in a real exhibition setting.
“This session’s theme, Metamorphosis, invites students to explore transformation—whether in nature, identity or design—through visual storytelling and mixed-media techniques,” said Chesters. “We’ll be drawing inspiration from contemporary and historical artists like M.C. Escher, Frida Kahlo and Gerhard Richter to examine how change shapes artistic expression.”
The Commons is located at 90 Main St. There is room for 20 students.
